Restaurante de Santa Fe
By Victoria de Almeida
I love living in Santa Fe. My family has been in this area for over 9 generations! While the plaza used to be the downtown in which locals visited to go to doctor's appointments, buy dry goods, and foodstuffs, it is no longer so. It is mostly the epicenter of art, restaurants, and various other attractions for tourism. I still love visiting the plaza and eating in one of the many incredible restaurants. I love the old buildings where most of the restaurants reside and observing all of the different kinds of people that come into the plaza. It's so relaxing having a margarita, chatting with good friends while cool Santa Fe breezes come through the open windows. This is what I hope to convey with this painting. The painting hanging on the wall is my Grandmother's house on Camino Sin Nombre, and the numbers on this restaurant are her street numbers.

As a self-taught artist, I really fight looking at something when I'm painting or sketching. I love just allowing my work to evolve organically. My preliminary sketches are...
