Queen members Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Adam Lambert own a copy of this piece. I personally presented it to Brian May on July 16, 2019 at the Queen concert in Phoenix. This painting I did of the rock legends Queen took me 375 hours and 7 months to complete. It is the painting of my career and means more to me than the other 202 paintings I’ve completed combined. Queen came into my life when I was most vulnerable and really struggling emotionally. In every sense of the word, QUEENS MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE. This painting SAVED MY LIFE Queen is an English band and tea is a part of their tradition, I thought an Alice and Wonderland mad tea party was a clever idea. The band members look bored, as though they are just getting through the day. Sadly, they’ve lost their best friend, their mate Freddie Mercury. He died in 1991 of complications of AIDS. Through my work I always hope to tell a story about my personal experiences as a Hispanic woman. I was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Mexico and my family has been in northern New Mexico for over 10 generations. My work comes from my memories of growing up in a large extended family and my favorite subjects to paint are the people and traditions of northern New Mexico. I have always loved art and have wanted to become an artist for as long as I can remember. My primary medium is acrylic on canvas. I have also enjoyed using acrylic on wood as well.
