About Victoria De Almeida

Victoria De Almeida Biography
Victoria de Almeida was born and raised in the beautiful state of New Mexico. Her family has been in northern New Mexico for over 9 generations. Her favorite subjects to paint are the people and traditions of northern New Mexico. When asked about what influences her work, de Almeida replies,

"The foundation of my art has been largely based on the memories and experiences I have had being part of a large, beautiful, Hispanic family. I love painting interiors of the home because of my memories of my grandma Reynalda Almeida. She lived in a little adobe casita near Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She always had a pot simmering on the stove and open arms ready for her children and grandchildren. The rich smell of red chile would permeate the house while my Grandma would push my small hands into a floury bowl of tortilla dough. I hope that my work conveys what I believe to be true of the Hispanic culture: generosity of spirit and home, love of family and traditions, and pride in who you are and where you came from."

Victoria de Almeida is an award-winning folk artist and owner of the Victoria de Almeida Studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is the 2018 Film Business Alliance of New Mexico Sourcebook cover artist, and the 2015 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta poster artist. In 2013, Barnes and Noble bookstores chose her as their 2013 National Hispanic Heritage Artist.
