Artist's Description
This piece honors our annual Fiestas de Santa Fe held in September. The celebration honors the reconquest of the city of Santa Fe in 1692 by Don Diego Devargas. Every fall here in Santa Fe a man as Devargas and young woman as La Reina are chosen to represent this celebration. For one weekend a year the Santa Fe historic plaza is full of life with food, music, parades and locals and tourists celebrating this beautiful tradition. I've added Navajo turquoise jewelry to my queen and Devargas wears my family crest (Almeida!) and family colors! Que Viva La Fiesta de Santa Fe!
About Victoria De Almeida

I have always loved art and have wanted to become an artist for as long as I can remember. My primary medium is acrylic on canvas. I have also enjoyed using acrylic on wood as well. As a self-taught artist, I really fight looking at something when I'm painting or sketching. I love just allowing my work to evolve organically. My preliminary sketches are...
